Double points and shiny trophies accompanied the sweet thunderous sound of Steel Block Late Models, Super Stocks, Thunderbolt Enduros, and Pure Stocks Friday night as racers pushed even harder to move up in the last race of the Championship Points Season. Feature winners earning double points on the evening were Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Models), Skip Lindemuth (Super Stocks), Chuck White (Thunderbolt Enduros), and Brian Rhed (Pure Stocks). Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Models), Tim Bish (Super Stocks), Jamey Lee (Thunderbolt Enduros), and Kyle Shannon (Pure Stocks) will need a super-sized mantle to hold the massive Championship trophies they received as winners of their 2009 season classes.

An eventful night at Thunder Mountain Speedway gave fans the opportunity to meet their favorite racers, grab an autograph, and see those marvelous noise making, octane drinking, mud slinging machines up-close. Sevens were wild in the 410 Sprint feature race, number 7K, Dan Shetler, and 7T, Troy Vaccaro, finished first and second on the podium. Winners of regular racing were Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Model), Ray Hickok (Pure Stock), Scott Stein (Super Stock), and Jason Joiner (Thunderbolt Enduro) on Health Source Chiropractic Night.

Thunder Mountain Speedway cranked up the heat even further Friday night as the feature races of the evening were highlighted by two “Girls Gone Wild” Powder Puff Races and a Kids Power Wheels Race. Winners of the “Girls Gone Wild” Powder Puff races were Yvonne Michuck and Shannon Lee. Feature winners of the evening were Rusty Martz (Super Stocks), Ray Hickok (Pure Stocks), Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Models), and a career first for John Miller (Thunderbolt Enduros).

Delayed, although intermittent, thunderstorms were on the forecast at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Spectators filed into Thunder Mountain while the track crew diligently prepared the dirt surface for racing. The sunshine of day turned to night, and the red and purple hues of the sun setting began to disappear behind the mountainous terrain. The scene of the track crew frantically trying to prep the surface was visible in the foreground. When racing action finally got under way, feature winners of the evening were Tim Bish (Super Stocks), Ray Hickok (Pure Stocks), Bob McMillen (Steel Block Late Models), and Chris Hickok (Thunderbolt Enduros).

With lightning in the distance, Thunder Mountain returned to action besting Mother Nature one more time in the 2009 season battle. Skip Lindemuth picked up his first Super Stock win in over 2 seasons while Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Models), Kyle Shannon (Pure Stocks) and Jason Joiner (Thunderbolt Enduros) returned to Horizon Homes victory lane. Bruce Jr. and Abby took home bikes from IMPACT Designs and Horner Wildlife Taxidermy Studio after winning the Kids’ Sign Design contest.

After the Mid Season Championships and subsequent break, Thunder Mountain Speedway returned to action and saw Jerry Redden (Steel Block late Models) and Ray Hickok (Pure Stocks) grab their 2nd wins of the season while Tim Bish (Super Stocks) and Chris Hickok (Thunderbolt Enduros) snare their initial victories of 2009.

In only his 2nd year behind the wheel of a 410 powered sprint car, Eric Williams scored a hard fought feature win at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Matt Gaston (Steel Block late Models), Rusty Martz (Super Stocks), Kyle Shannon (Pure Stocks), and Jason Joiner (Thunderbolt Enduros) all repeat winners on Mid Season Championship night.
