Thunder Mountain Speedway wishes to extend condolences to the family of Shawn "Sheetz" McGarvey, who tragically lost his life in an accident on April 14, 2009.

In only his 2nd year behind the wheel of a 410 powered sprint car, Eric Williams scored a hard fought feature win at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Matt Gaston (Steel Block late Models), Rusty Martz (Super Stocks), Kyle Shannon (Pure Stocks), and Jason Joiner (Thunderbolt Enduros) all repeat winners on Mid Season Championship night.

After it appeared Mother Nature might claim back to back wins, the track crew won the battle with a fast dust-free surface for drivers to tune up for next week’s Mid Season Championships. Matt Gaston (Steel Block Late Models) and Kyle Shannon (Pure Stocks) returned to victory lane while Rusty Martz (Super Stocks) and Jason Joiner (Thunderbolt Enduros) picked up consecutive wins. The new TMS Kids Club made its debut with huge success. More fun times for the kids are in order and will be announced weekly.

Mother nature threw all she had at Thunder Mountain Speedway, but the track crew fought back and prepared a tacky surface for the return of the 410 Sprint Cars. "Showtime" Dan Shetler made the long haul from Johnstown, PA to take home the 410 Sprint feature win. Jerry Redden held off a hard charging Matt Gaston to garner his first Steel Block Late Model win of the season. Rusty Martz returned from a week off and took home his 2nd Super Stock main. Ray Hickok invaded Thunder Mountain and picked up a Pure Stock feature win while Jason Joiner ended his bad luck with a Thunderbolt Enduro feature win on Marcy Reiter Trophy Night.

GASTON, HANDYSIDE, SHANNON, AND LEE VICTORS ON MICHAEL J. TULLY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AT THUNDER MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY

Defending track champion Matt Gaston returned to the speedway and took home a convincing Steel Block Late Model win as Kyle Shannon learned from last week’s set up to take his first Pure Stock main of the season. Jim Handyside Jr grabbed his first ever Super Stock checkered flag while Jamey Lee continued his Thunderbolt Enduro winning streak. Prior to the racing action, members of the US Army were on hand to help the speedway and fans honor SFC Michael J. Tully, a local resident who was lost fighting the war on terror. Tully’s parents Jack and Marilyn & family was on hand to participate in the opening ceremonies.
