2010 Super Stock Rules

 

Chassis/Body:
Any North American car chassis, 1960 to present with a minimum of 106” wheel base
permitted. No Cameros, Firebirds, Jeeps, station wagons, or sports utility vehicles permitted.


Body Style:
Lines and shape must appear stock. Body panels do not have to be OEM, but they must be metal. Body panels may be truck or car. Drivers and passengers floor boards along with firewall and transmission tunnel must be in place, and can be made of steel or aluminum. All flammable materials must be removed. Plastic one or two piece nose and tail pieces are permitted. Any tube bumpers must be behind body panels. Push bar hoops front and rear are allowed they may extend past the plane of nose or tail. Tow hooks are mandatory. A 5” rear deck Spoiler is permitted. Surface below rear spoiler must be completely enclosed to bottom of the frame rail. Rear End Area must be completely enclosed.


Frame:
Car frame’s only must remain stock. Cars may be sectioned from center of rear axel to rear
bumper. Uni-bodies must remain tied together with 2”X3” channel iron, square tubing etc.
joining front and rear frame sections. Uni-body type car owners must show documentation of
frame sections used year and make. Frame chassis do not have to match year of body. Clip car
chassis will not be permitted. Minimum wheel base of 106”. MANDATORY all racing vehicles
must have tow hooks on the front and rear of car.


Suspension:
Springs must be in stock location. Steel body non adjustable racing shocks allowed. Racing
springs will be allowed. Shock on front suspension does not have to pass through the spring.
Lower A arm must be stock, no altering will be allowed of lower control arm. Non adjustable
tubular upper arms will be allowed. Coil over shocks will not be allowed, front or rear. Weight
jacks are permitted on the front or rear. Only stock spindles will be permitted. Coil spring
spacers will be permitted. Rear suspension type must match type of frame. Trailing arm
suspension may not use heim ends or adjustable arms. Trailing arms to be stock length , non
adjustable type. both ends of trailing arm must be rubber or After market type bushings. Rear
shocks must be located on side of the axel for the frame used (example metric frame, both
shocks are mounted on the rear of the housing). Rear shock may be mounted no lower than 5 ½”
from bottom of housing to center of shock bolt. After market housing mounts may be used ,
mount may have only three sets of holes for the trailing arm.. Three link rear suspensions will not be allowed.


Engine:
Maximum engine size is 406 cubic inches. Engine may not set back any further than the center
of the front spark plug hole to the center of upper ball joint. Any pistons allowed. Roller
cams and lifters are permitted. No aluminum blocks or heads. Dry sumps are not
permitted. Roller rockers are permitted stock or aftermarket. H.E.I. distributors are permitted,
MSD systems are permitted. Magneto’s are not permitted. Any intake will be permitted.
Gasket matching into intake runners allowed to ½” maximum. Pleninum must remain stock no
porting or polishing of intake runners will be allowed. Porting and polishing of heads will not
be allowed. Carburetor can be two or four barrel. Racing carburetor’s will be allowed up to 750
C.F.M.. Modifications are not allowed to ventury or throttle bore or linkage. Headers will be
allowed with a 3-1/2” exhaust exiting past the driver’s compartment.


Drive Line:
Stock clutches and pressure plate with steel flywheel. Steel scatter shield are mandatory. Only
stock transmissions will be allowed. Burt or Brinn type transmission WILL NOT be allowed.
Transmission must have a working reverse. Automatic transmission will be allowed, they must
have a working torque converter. Automatic transmission must have a scatter shield or scatter
blanket. Steel drive shaft only. Driveshaft must be painted white and have a front drive shaft
safety hoop. Stock rear axel or fords 9” are permitted. Floater rears are permitted (grand
national style hubs only). All four wheels must have 5/8” studs and oversized lug nuts. Racing
wheels are allowed up to 10” wide. Aluminum wheels are not permitted. Screwing of tire
beads will not be allowed. Any tire up to a 1100 series will be allowed.
1. Bead-locks are permitted on all four wheels.
2. Triple disk clutches are permitted.


Safety:
Battery cut out switch must be in reach of driver and track personal. Only Racing approved
metal racing seats or the equivalent and 3” seat belts with 3” shoulder belts will be allowed.
Crotch belts recommended. Driver’s window net is required. Full Windshield screens or bars with a
minimum spacing of 3” are mandatory and should cover the entire windshield space. Roll cage minimum thickness is .095” mild steel tubing
with a minimum of 1 ½” diameter. Driver’s side must have a minimum of 4 horizontal bars and
3 horizontal bars on the passenger side. Cage must be a minimum of a 4 post design with the
bars behind the driver’s seat forming an X. The cage must form a box at least 4” above the
driver helmet. The seat and belts must be fastened securely to the roll cage and or bracing. The
roll cage must be welded to the frame securely. The fuel cell must have a steel shell and located
in the truck area. A steel firewall must be located between driver and fuel cell area. The battery
must not be located in the driver’s compartment. No fuel lines will be permitted in the driver’s
compartment area unless completely encased in steel tubing with both ends exiting past the
driver’s area. Car must have a front driveshaft hoop.


Weight:
Minimum weight with driver after any race will be 3100 lbs. All weight ballast may
be located any where on chassis no higher than driver shoulder. *all ballast must be
securely fastened, painted white and have drivers number on it.


Brakes:
All cars must have 4 wheel working brakes. Brake shut off devices will not be
allowed. Disk brakes will be allowed on rear axel, but they must be OEM style or single piston
aftermarket only. No multi piston racing calipers will be allowed. Racing master cylinders and
pedals will be allowed. Driver controlled balance bar is not allowed.

**In the event of a conflict between the class rules and the speedway general
and safety rules, the speedway rules take precedence.**
**Any cars found deficient in the above stated rules will only be permitted to run at the
discretion of the track safety/tech personal**
**Rules are created to promote equal competition within the division**
**Thunder Mountain Speedway reserves the right to make changes as needed to
equalize the division
